Das Stage One Studio ist ein deutsches Tonstudio im Stadtteil Bühne der nordrhein-westfälischen Kleinstadt Borgentreich, rund 35 km nordwestlich von Kassel. Spezialisiert ist das Studio auf alle Produktionsschritte bei einer Musikproduktion, es werden also sowohl die Aufnahmen als auch die Abmischung und das Mastering durchgeführt. Betrieben wird es von Andy Classen.[1] Die Hauptkundschaft besteht aus Metal-Bands.

Geschichte

Das Stage One Studio wurde 1990 vom damaligen Holy-Moses-Gitarristen Andy Classen als Exklusivstudio des kleinen Labels West Virginia Records gegründet.[2] Bis 1994 hatte Classen im Stage One Studio alle Bands des Labels produziert, darunter neben Holy Moses auch Warpath und Incubator. Im Zuge seines Ausstieges bei Holy Moses konzentrierte sich Classen ab diesem Zeitpunkt vollständig auf seine Arbeit als Produzent und Toningenieur, übernahm das Studio komplett und begann für Labels wie Nuclear Blast, Century Media Records, Gun Records, Metal Blade Records, AFM Records, Massacre Records, Season of Mist, Armageddon Music und weitere zu arbeiten.[2]

Beschreibung

Das Stage One Studio besteht aus einem rund 16 m² großen Regieraum,[3] der durch ein Sichtfenster mit dem ca. 22,5 m² großen Aufnahmeraum verbunden ist.[4] Untergebracht ist das Studio in Classens Wohnhaus.[5] Direkt an das Studio angeschlossen ist zudem eine Wohnung, welche durch Bands bei den Aufnahmen gegen eine Kaution kostenlos benutzt werden kann, und Platz für bis zu fünf Personen bietet.[5]

Bekannte Kunden und Werke

Das Stage One Studio mit Andy Classen als Produzent entwickelte sich in den 1990er Jahren zu einem der wichtigsten Studios für Hardcore Punk, Hardcore, Thrash Metal und Death Metal in Europa.[2] Insbesondere seit etwa 2000 stieg die Bedeutung des Studios enorm, so dass es auch zunehmend von außereuropäischen Bands wie Criminal (Chile), Krisiun (Brasilien) oder Mantic Ritual und Solace of Requiem (beide USA) gebucht wurde. Die folgende Tabelle gibt nahezu vollständig alle Alben wieder, an deren Produktion das Stage One Studio beteiligt war.
