Vorlage:Infobox Officeholder Tania Mathias is a Conservative Party politician in the United Kingdom. She was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Twickenham in 2015.^[1][2]

Dr Mathias was brought up in Barnes. Her grandfather Freddie Mathias played rugby and cricket for Glamorgan and was awarded the Military Cross in 1918 after his exploits flying over enemy lines in Belgium and France.^[3]

Dr Mathias was educated at St Paul's Girls' School in Hammersmith and attended Oxford University.^[3]

Soon after graduating in medicine, Dr Mathias was a refugee worker for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in the Gaza Strip and treated HIV, AIDS and tuberculosis patients in Africa. She has also treated leprosy patients in North Bihar, India and South China. She is currently employed by the NHS as an eye doctor.^[4]

Dr Mathias was elected to the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames as councillor for Hampton Wick in 2010.^[3] In 2015, she was elected MP for Twickenham, ousting the Liberal Democrat Business Secretary, Vince Cable.
