Athenry ist ein Ort in County Galway, Irland. Der mittelalterische und agrarwirtschaftliche Ort Athenry wurde das erste Mal erwähnt, als die Burg von Meyler de Bermingham, dem 2. Baron von Athenry 1238 gebaut wurde, welche noch heute eine der größten Attraktionen des Ortes ist. Der Ort liegt östlich der Stadt Galway.

Athenry ist durch das irische Eisenbahnnetz und Autostraßen erreichbar.

Bekannt wurde der Ort durch das irische Volkslied The Fields of Athenry, welches die Situation während der Irischen Hungersnot zwischen 1846 and 1849 wiederspiegelt.
