Julian Wadham, mit dem ganzen Namen Julian Neil Rohan Wadham (* 7. August 1958) ist ein britischer Film, Fernseh- und Theaterschauspieler. Heute gehört er zu anerkannten Schauspielern von Nebenrollen, die er neben Stars wie Bob Hoskins, John Hurt, Gérard Depardieu, Ralph Fiennes, Juliette Binoche, Ian Holm, Ben Kingsley u. a. kreierte.

Julian Wadham wurde als Sohn von Juliane und Rohan Neil Wadham geboren. Sein Vater wurde mit dem Distinguished Flying Cross ausgezeichnet.

Wadham besuchte das Ampleforth College. Einer seiner Mitschüler war Rupert Everett. Beide spielten häufig Frauenrollen im Schultheater. Schon damals entschied sich Wadham Schauspieler zu werden.

Im Jahre 1980 absolvierte er Central School of Speech and Drama in London. Um seine Equity card zu bekommen, arbeitete er sechs Monate als Stagemanager im Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich. Einen Durchbruch gelang ihm durch seine Rollen in den Theaterstücken Another Country und Falkland South.

Im Jahre 1990 heiratete Wadham die britische Schauspielerin Shirley J Cassedy. Zusammen haben sie vier Söhne: William Francis (geb. 1991), Thomas Wyndham (geb. 1992), Oliver Julian (geb. 1994) und Samuel Nicholas (geb. 1997).

“I am lucky that I have been involved in some outstanding theatre shows; one or two rather good films and even the odd good television, which is the bread and butter of any actor’s life. Good jobs have come along, and although I may never have been a star in my own right I have enjoyed being an actor, and I have kept going. And I have worked with a lot of my heroes, both actors and writers.”^[1]

“I have always been a dramatic actor rather than a comedic one. Initially I never thought of acting as entertainment at all, but more therapeutic and psychologically developmental for me. So I was more into introverted characters like William Pitt the Younger, who I played in ‘The Madness of King George’. “But as I have got older and maybe resolved some of my personal issues, I have become more interested in the entertainment aspect of acting, and hopefully I will do more comedy in the future.”^[2]
