Nymphaea subg. Nymphaea ist eine Untergattung der Gattung Nymphaea.[1][2]

Vegetative Merkmale
Die Arten von Nymphaea subg. Nymphaea haben horizontale oder vertikale Rhizome. Die Blattränder sind nie gezähnt.[2]
Generative Merkmale
Die tagblühenden Blüten schwimmen auf der Wasseroberfläche.[2] Die äußeren Staubblätter haben petaloide Staubfäden.[3] Die Staubblätter haben kein steriles Anhängsel an der Spitze.[2][4] Die Blütenblätter sind überwiegend weiß, aber auch rosa, rot und gelb gefärbt.[4] Die großen Samen haben eine glatte Oberfläche.[2]

Verbreitung
Nymphaea subg. Nymphaea kommt in den gemäßigten Regionen der nördlichen Hemisphäre vor.[2][1][4]
